France has issued multiple nationwide meat recalls over Salmonella concerns, including Tendriade veal mince sold through several of the country’s biggest supermarket chains and Maître Coq poultry sausages distributed through major retailers.

The Tendriade recall covers Haché de veau façon boucher 2x100g VVF, GTIN 3384480022033, lot 73728848, with use-by dates of October 7 and October 8, 2026. RappelConso says the product was marketed from September 29 through October 1 and distributed across France through Auchan, Carrefour, Intermarché, Leclerc and Système U.

A second nationwide recall affects Maître Coq poultry sausages

RappelConso also lists Maître Coq Saucisses de volaille façon charcutière in Nature, Herbes and Merguez varieties, 320g packs, lots 26265 and 26266, with use-by dates between October 8 and October 9. The products were sold from September 22 through October 2.

That recall covers France-wide distribution through Leclerc and Coopérative U, as well as selected Intermarché locations and a Monoprix store in Paris. Both recalls cite Salmonella risk, with the Tendriade notice stating confirmed presence and the Maître Coq notice stating suspected contamination.

Why this recall is more significant than a routine local alert

The scale and distribution make these recalls materially different from a single-store or narrowly regional notice. The products reached multiple national supermarket groups and were sold across a broad geographic area, creating a much wider consumer and retail response.

French authorities advise consumers not to consume affected products and to follow the return, disposal or reimbursement instructions in the official recall notices. Salmonella infections can cause acute gastrointestinal symptoms, often with fever and headache, and can be more serious in vulnerable people.

For food companies and retailers, the episode also highlights the operational impact of multi-chain recalls: traceability, stock withdrawal, consumer communication and reimbursement must all move quickly across several distribution networks at once.
