France Recalls Carrefour Bio Cooked Shrimp Nationwide Over Listeria

Updated: 7 days ago
French consumer safety authorities have issued a nationwide recall for a Carrefour branded organic cooked shrimp product after Listeria monocytogenes was detected.
The affected product is a 300 gram pack of refrigerated cooked Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp, size 40/60, sold under the Carrefour brand. The recall notice identifies GTIN 3523680338296, lot 625011, with a use by date of September 19, 2026.
The product was distributed across France through Cora and Carrefour. The official recall notice says it was marketed on September 10 and should be returned to the point of sale for reimbursement.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an illness that can be serious for pregnant people, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. French authorities advise consumers who ate the product and develop fever, headache or body aches to seek medical advice and mention the consumption.
The recall is voluntary and was submitted by UNIMA DISTRIBUTION UD. It is listed in France's Rappel Consommateur system under reference 2026-09-0239.
For food retailers and seafood suppliers, the notice is another reminder that chilled ready to eat products require tight microbiological controls because refrigeration does not eliminate Listeria risk.
