World Bank Approves $750 Million for Türkiye Agrifood Upgrade Targeting 225,000 Farmers

The World Bank approved a $750 million financing package for Türkiye's TARGET agrifood transformation project in September 2026. The programme aims to connect farmers and producers to stronger markets and longer-term capital, improving storage, processing and the commercial infrastructure of food supply chains.
Why this matters
The design combines a $720 million reimbursable finance facility with $30 million backing for partial credit guarantees. The World Bank projects approximately 225,000 participating farmers, 110,000 additional or better-paid jobs and mobilization of $670 million in private capital by 2032. These are targets, not completed outcomes.
The limits and what happens next
Farmers and processors could benefit if financing reaches viable projects and if infrastructure improves. The important indicators will be actual lending, private co-investment, jobs measured after implementation and whether farmers gain dependable customers rather than receiving finance alone.
