IKTIFA Launches Organic Fertiliser Processing Plant at Mleiha Dairy Farm

Updated: Oct 7
Sharjah Corporation for Agricultural and Livestock Production, known as IKTIFA, has launched a new organic fertiliser processing plant at Mleiha Dairy Farm in the United Arab Emirates.
The company says the facility uses patented technology from New Zealand to process agricultural and food-production by-products into high-purity, odourless organic fertiliser.
The project links livestock production with nutrient recycling. By converting waste streams generated within food and dairy operations into a usable agricultural input, the plant is intended to reduce waste while supporting local crop production.
IKTIFA presented the facility during a visit by New Zealand diplomatic representatives, with discussions also covering technical cooperation and dairy-sector expertise.
The plant forms part of Sharjah's broader investment in domestic agricultural and food production infrastructure, including dairy, poultry and crop projects.
For the regional fertilizer market, the project is notable as an example of integrated nutrient recovery inside a food-production system. Its commercial impact will depend on plant capacity, operating economics, nutrient consistency and how widely the resulting fertilizer is used across local farms.
