Global Avocado Congress Targets 600 Industry Professionals in Madrid

Updated: Oct 7
The Global Avocado Congress will return to Madrid on 5 October 2026, bringing a dedicated industry meeting to IFEMA's South Auditorium one day before Fruit Attraction opens. Organizers expect more than 600 avocado professionals at the second edition of the congress, following its debut in 2024.
The event is designed for participants across the avocado value chain, including growers, exporters, importers, retailers and other industry specialists. Its placement immediately before the trade show gives delegates a focused forum before the wider fresh produce exhibition begins on 6 October.
Fruit Attraction runs from 6 to 8 October at IFEMA Madrid. The organizers expect more than 2,500 exhibiting companies and more than 121,000 trade visitors from 150 countries, making the congress a specialist entry point into a much larger commercial gathering rather than a standalone consumer event.
That structure matters for companies trying to connect production decisions with market access. A dedicated avocado meeting can bring category specific issues into sharper focus, while the following trade show supplies a broader network of buyers, logistics providers, technology companies and fresh produce businesses.
IFEMA describes the 2026 congress as an expanded program centered on networking, knowledge exchange and business development. The public event page also highlights innovation as a priority, although it does not yet display a detailed session schedule, so prospective attendees should distinguish the confirmed date and attendance estimate from program details still to be published.
The attendance figure is a forecast, not a final result. Reporting it accurately is important because the congress has not yet taken place. Its commercial significance will ultimately depend on the mix of participating producers, traders and retailers, as well as the substance of the agenda once the complete program is available.
The event also reflects the increasing specialization of major produce exhibitions. Category conferences can create more useful conversations than a general show floor alone because participants arrive with shared product, sourcing and market questions, while still retaining access to the wider exhibition's international buyer base.
For avocado businesses, the practical opportunity is concentrated into four consecutive days in Madrid, starting with the congress on 5 October and continuing through Fruit Attraction from 6 to 8 October. The format may be especially useful for firms coordinating supplier meetings, European market discussions and technology scouting in a single trip.
