GEA is investing about US$25 million to expand its Janesville, Wisconsin, campus with roughly 70,000 square feet of additional manufacturing, research, testing and training space.

The expansion is aimed at food, beverage and nutrition customers in North America and follows approval of a development agreement with the City of Janesville.

GEA says the new building will bring manufacturing, assembly and application teams closer together, shortening the path from process testing to production decisions.

The site will focus in part on technologies from the company's Nutrition Plant Engineering portfolio, including industrial drying systems used across food and nutrition manufacturing.

Customer and internal training as well as application testing will also be built into the expanded campus rather than separated from production activities.

Construction is scheduled to move forward through 2026 and 2027, with the expanded facility expected to become fully operational in early 2028.

The investment builds on GEA's existing Janesville footprint, including an Application and Technology Center of Excellence for New Food opened in 2025.

For processors, the value of the project is not simply additional factory floor space. It creates a regional site where equipment manufacturing, trials, engineering and training can happen closer to North American customers before large capital projects are deployed.
