Edible Garden Signs Deal for Iowa Site to Build 100 Million-Unit RTD Platform
Edible Garden has signed a real-estate purchase contract covering its planned Prairie Hills manufacturing site in Webster City, Iowa, advancing a project designed to produce more than 100 million ready-to-drink nutrition units annually.
The agreement covers the property, buildings, improvements and specified equipment associated with the site. Closing remains subject to due diligence and other customary conditions, so the transaction is not yet final.
Edible Garden plans to turn Prairie Hills into a large-scale production base for shelf-stable plant-based, dairy-based and functional nutrition beverages.
The company expects the project to use Tetra Pak processing and aseptic packaging technology, allowing products to move through ambient distribution before opening rather than depending entirely on refrigerated logistics.
The Iowa project is a major extension of Edible Garden's business beyond fresh controlled-environment produce into packaged nutrition and contract manufacturing.
Under its Farm-to-Formula strategy, the company wants to connect agricultural inputs, formulation, processing and packaging inside a more vertically integrated operating model.
Previous project plans have targeted a platform capable of serving both branded and private-label customers, creating potential demand for dairy, plant protein, packaging, logistics and other regional suppliers.
The immediate milestone is the property transaction rather than commercial production. The significance is that Edible Garden is moving a previously planned beverage platform closer to ownership, construction and equipment deployment.
