CNH has used a media and field event in Harbin, China, to showcase a group of technologies aimed at improving input efficiency, machine connectivity and lower-emission agricultural operations.

Among the featured systems was Case IH SenseApply on the Patriot 3250 PRO sprayer. Camera-based sensing is used to identify crop conditions and weeds so the machine can adjust application rates or target weeds selectively rather than spraying every part of the field at the same rate.

CNH says selective spraying can reduce herbicide use substantially in suitable green-on-brown applications. Actual savings depend on weed density, field conditions, crop stage and operating setup.

The company also presented FieldOps 2.0, its digital platform for combining machine data, field information and agronomic models for fleet management, service and decision support.

A New Holland methane-powered tractor was another part of the event, illustrating CNH's alternative-fuel strategy for farms that can produce or source biomethane.

CNH also highlighted localization of full-powershift and continuously variable transmission technologies at its Harbin manufacturing operation. The combination of precision application, connected machinery and local manufacturing shows how equipment companies are competing on software and systems integration as much as engine power.
