Breville’s Puck Sucker is a $89.95 countertop accessory designed to remove a spent espresso puck from a compatible 58 millimetre portafilter without the repeated impact of a conventional knock box. It is a focused product rather than a universal coffee tool, and its value depends heavily on the machine already sitting on the counter.

The manufacturer says the unit creates a rapidly activated vacuum when the portafilter is placed upside down on its opening. That suction releases the compacted coffee puck into the container below. The practical attraction is quieter disposal with fewer loose grounds around the workstation, especially in homes or offices where the noise of knocking out pucks is unwelcome.

Compatibility is the first buying test

Breville lists compatibility with its Dual Boiler, Dynamic Duo, Oracle Jet and Oracle Dual Boiler products. The shared requirement is a 58 millimetre Breville portafilter. Owners of smaller 54 millimetre Breville machines, or espresso machines from other brands, should not assume the accessory will fit merely because the portafilter looks similar.

That narrow compatibility also shapes the economics. A basic knock box costs less and works with almost any portafilter. The Puck Sucker earns its premium by improving the disposal routine for a specific group of Breville owners, not by adding extraction control, temperature stability or any change to the coffee in the cup.

Cleaning and daily use

The upper lid releases for emptying, while Breville describes the Tritan collection container as safe for the top rack of a dishwasher. Because the device handles wet coffee grounds, regular emptying and cleaning remain important. Buyers should also account for the footprint of another powered accessory beside a grinder and espresso machine.

Agrilinkage has not conducted hands on testing of this product. This assessment is based on Breville’s published specifications, compatibility list and current United States price. It is best understood as a convenience purchase for frequent espresso preparation, especially where quiet operation and cleaner puck disposal matter more than minimizing equipment cost.
