Vietnam Targets $18 Billion in Q4 Agrifood Exports After Nine Month Sales Reach $56.3 Billion

Vietnam is targeting about US$18 billion in agro forestry and fishery exports during the final three months of 2026 as the country pushes to finish the year with at least US$74 billion in overseas sales.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment estimates exports reached about US$56.3 billion in the first nine months, up 7.8 percent from the same period a year earlier.

Meeting the annual goal would require average monthly exports of roughly US$5.97 billion in the fourth quarter, keeping pressure on producers, processors and trade agencies to maintain market access and shipment growth.

Vietnam's export mix spans seafood, coffee, rice, fruit, vegetables, timber and other agricultural products, making the target dependent on several commodity markets rather than a single crop.

The ministry says it will continue working to remove technical barriers and expand market access while tightening compliance on production unit codes, packing facility codes, pesticide residues and traceability for fruit and vegetable shipments.

For fisheries, authorities are also trying to complete fishing vessel data and enforcement measures connected to the European Commission's yellow card warning over illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

Those regulatory issues matter commercially because access to high value markets increasingly depends on traceability, food safety and sustainability documentation in addition to price and production volume.

Vietnam's fourth quarter target therefore combines a sales objective with a market access challenge: exporters need nearly US$18 billion in additional shipments while meeting stricter requirements across major destination markets.
