DoorDash to Build 3,000 Person Global Operations Hub in Hyderabad
DoorDash plans to build a workforce of more than 3,000 people in Hyderabad over the next two years, turning the Indian city into one of the food delivery company's largest global operations and technology bases.
The company opened the hub on September 30, with initial teams focused on customer support and general and administrative functions, according to the Telangana state government.
DoorDash says Hyderabad will become one of only three company owned Customer Experience and Integrity hubs globally, alongside Tempe, Arizona and Mexico City.
The centre will support operations across DoorDash's international footprint rather than serving only the Indian market. The company now operates across more than 30 countries through DoorDash and its international businesses.
The expansion is significant for the food delivery sector because customer service, fraud prevention, mapping, data and operational support have become core infrastructure for platforms handling millions of restaurant, grocery and retail transactions.
DoorDash has already been recruiting in Hyderabad for roles in data, workforce planning, recruiting, customer experience, IT and its Labs division, indicating that the centre will extend beyond a conventional call centre model.
India has become a major location for global capability centres serving consumer technology, retail and logistics companies, combining a large technical workforce with lower operating costs than many U.S. and European markets.
For DoorDash, the Hyderabad expansion adds scale behind the software and service operations that support merchants, couriers and consumers globally while giving the company a larger in house operating base outside North America.
