Cargill's Regina Canola Plant Adds One Million Tonnes of Canadian Crushing Capacity

Cargill began operations at its Regina, Saskatchewan, canola facility in April 2026. The plant adds one million tonnes of annual seed-processing capacity to the region, producing oil for food and lower-carbon fuel uses and meal for animal feed.
Why this matters
The investment creates another domestic destination for canola harvested in Saskatchewan and western Manitoba. For growers, more processing demand can improve marketing options, although prices still depend on global vegetable-oil markets, farm yields and transportation costs.
The limits and what happens next
Cargill says the facility supports more than 100 full-time and contractor roles. The key distinction is that the plant was operational at its April inauguration; utilization over subsequent months will show how much of its nameplate capacity reaches customers.
