Two Belgian manufacturing projects

Cargill has outlined €51 million in investment across two Belgian food-manufacturing sites. Its company announcement describes €21 million spent upgrading an edible-oil bottling operation and a separate €30 million expansion of gourmet chocolate production in Mouscron.

These are different facilities and product markets. Combining the investments shows the company's broader Belgian manufacturing strategy, but it should not be interpreted as the cost of a single factory.

Bottled oils for foodservice

Cargill says its edible-oil bottling project transformed about 60% of the site over 12 months, with the aim of nearly doubling capacity. Two dedicated production lines were added for foodservice applications.

Foodservice customers need dependable oil supply in formats and quantities appropriate to professional kitchens and manufacturing. Additional lines can increase production flexibility, but demand, packaging materials and upstream edible-oil costs still determine operating economics.

More room for gourmet chocolate

In Mouscron, the €30 million project adds about 10,500 square metres of production space, which Cargill says will nearly double its gourmet chocolate manufacturing capability.

Chocolate makers depend on cocoa sourcing, processing, quality control and distribution as well as factory size. More production space cannot by itself guarantee output levels or insulated prices, particularly when cocoa markets are volatile.

What buyers should track

The announcement reflects physical investment in both business-to-business ingredients and finished foodservice products. Processors and customers can assess its impact by watching the commissioning and utilization of new capacity, product availability and supply reliability.

This is an expansion described in a June 2026 corporate release, included here as an industrial investment analysis rather than represented as an October opening.
